WAYMO is a heavily loaded and intensive small group fitness class found only at FAC. It is a combination of Olympic lifting, calisthenics and intense cardiovascular training. The goal of the program is to build efficiency of movement and athleticism. It is structured with 3 levels, determined by the athlete’s strength, experience, and ability. Level 1 relies heavily on dumbbell work until the foundational lifts are mastered. Then athletes are safely progressed through level 2 with the introduction of barbell movements and level 3 athletes primarily rely on Olympic lifting movements. Waymo is programmed with the safety of the athletes at it’s foundation which differentiates it from other similar programs; therefore it is separated out into 2 separate segments. The heavy strength work, the SPHT (strength, power, hypertrophy,and tone), is completed first followed by the VEST (variable energy system training). This allows for the highly complex movements to be mastered safely and efficiently before repetitive bouts of high intensity cardio are introduced.
